The MCA national leadership should not be silent any longer on what action it proposes to take to defend the legal rights and claims of the Tanah Putih farmers, as 98 per cent of the farmers and 100 per cent of the Committee members of Gua Musang Smallholders Association are MCA members

I am shocked that although 48 hours have passed since my announcement of the suspension of DAP plan to make representation to the Kelantan State Government to respect the socio-economic rights of the Tanah Putih, Gua Musang farmers, the MCA national leadership has been very silent on what action it would take to defend the legal rights and claims of the Tanah Putih farmers, and whether the MCA national leadership is prepared to take the issue to a court of law. I am shocked that after the visit of DAP leaders to Tanah Putih, Gua Musang on Sunday, the MCA national leadership through its MCA National Publicity Bureau has again attacked the DAP on the Tanah Putih land issue and maintain that the Tanah Putih farmers have legal rights to their land. The MCA leadership has at large conceded its irresponsible tactics in trying to sabotage and thwart the DAP National Conference Against Land Acquisition Abuses and Injustices in Kuala Lumpur on January 8 by spreading the lie that 1,000 acres of 500 Chinese smallholders at Tanah Putih, Gua Musang had been acquired by the Kelantan State Government under the Land Acquisition Act without compensation as it has not only failed to produce documentary proof to substantiate such an allegation, but dared not repeat such an allegation any more.
