DAP calls for an independent inquiry as to why 77,000 applications for new identity cards have been held up and require processing, which will mean that these 77,000 people will have to go through the hassle and inconvenience of the application all over again! Call on Cabinet to act as speedily in the blue identity card question as in withdrawing the FIC proposed new guidelines

Call on Cabinet to act as speedily in the blue identity card question as in withdrawing the FIC proposed new guidelines.

It is significant that since the DAP raised the issue at the DAP Negri Sembilan State Committee “Party Reform” meeting in Seremban last Tuesday, no MCA Minister or leader dare to give a clear-cutguarantee on behalf of the government that no blue identity card would be converted to red identity card in the change for new identity card because of spelling or clerical errors in decades-old documents. As MCA is incapable of ensuring that the Government adheres to the Vision 2020, how can the people believe the MCA claim that if there is no DAP, the MCA can guarantee that Vision 2020 would be achieved in an earlier date

As MCA is incapable of ensuring that the Government adheres to the Vision 2020, how can the people believe the MCA claim that if there is no DAP, the MCA can guarantee that Vision 2020 would be achieved in an earlier date.

DAP calls on Public Services Department to raise the low police morale created by the SSB by establishing parity for all police grades with their equivalent counterparts in armed forces or civilian services.

DAP calls on the Public Services Department (PSD) to take a serious and urgent view of the low police morale created by the New Remuneration System or Sistem Saraan Baru (SSB) which had failed to give proper recognition to the important role played by all ranks of the police forces in performing a key public function of maintaining law and order in the country. DAP opposes another Article 30 citizenship verfication exercise and calls on the Government to automatlcally issue new identity card to all Article 30 citizens in view of the 1970 verification exercise.

Following the DAP campaign started in Seremban last Tuesday, opposing the great injustice of Malaysian citizens having to prove again and again their citizenship qualifications, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ong Ka Ting, has admitted that there is problem with the change of new identity cards for the Article 30 citizens. What moral and political right has Syed Hamid Albar to escalate and aggravate Bar-Government relations when he himself voted in full support for the 1988 Bar Council resolution expressing no confidence in Tun Hamid?

What moral and political right has Syed Hamid Albar to escalate and aggravate Bar-Government relations when he himself voted in full support for the 1988 Bar Council resolution expressing no confidence in Tun Hamid?

It is most shocking that there are people bent on escalating and aggravating Bar-Government relations and not allow a ‘cooling-off’ period to take place to reduce the Bar-Government and Bar-Judiciary tensions as a result of the ill-advised attempt to repudiate the 1988 Bar Council resolution at the recent Bar Council Annual General Meeting. Call on MCA, Gerakan and MIC Ministers to ask for a Cabinet decision next Wednesday that in the change to new identity cards, no citizen will be reduced to a red identity-card status because of spelling or clerical errors in decades-old documents.

Call on MCA, Gerakan and MIC Ministers to ask for a Cabinet decision next Wednesday that in the change to new identity cards, no citizen will be reduced to a red identity-card status because of spelling or clerical errors in decades-old documents.

The MCA Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ong Ka Ting, is trying to evade the problems faced by mil¬lions of Malaysians in the introduction of the new identity card by claiming that the National Registration Department had never and had no powers to deprive a Malaysian of his citizenship.
