Recently, the MCA Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Pong Chan Onn, has said that the Government now recognises the importance, role and contribution of Chinese primary schools to the national education system as well as to national development. All DAP State Committees, DAPSY and Wanita DAP directed to incorporate into the 24-month Party Reform a strategy to extend the DAP’s influence and message to rural areas to ensure that the MCA is not allowed to spread lies about the DAP as in the Jerai by-election.

DAP will openly call on the Chinese voters of Jerai to vote for the Barisan Nasional candidate on March 4 if the MCA could prove any one of its eight allegations of the ‘oppression’ and ‘persecution’ of the Chinese in Kelantan by the PAS-led State Government is true.

It most most regrettable that the MCA leaders have continued with their lies and falsehoods in the ‘Jerai’ parliamentary by-election in Kedah, accusing the DAP of being the defenders and apologists for the PAS-led Kelantan State Government. The issue of the two demolished Thean Teik dwellings which the Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) had refused to rebuild and reinstate to their original condition despite the completion of sewerage construction works as it had promised in accordance with the law does not merely concern the owner of the dwellings, Teoh Chong Poh, but can have far reaching consequences for the MPPP and the ratepayers. Two days ago, the DAP gave the MCA 48 hours to admit and stop its baseless attacks against the DAP in the Jerai parliamentary by-election, in particular that the Chinese in Kelantan are in ‘deep waters and furnace heat’ and that the DAP must near responsibility for the ‘oppression’ and ‘persecution’ of the Chinese in Kelantan by the PAS-led State Government.
