DAP calls for an all-party Parliamentary Inquiry as to how the Public Services Department could make such a colossal mistake as to overpay 25,000 civil servants for 10 years and why it has taken over a decade to discover such a mistake

It is most shocking that more than 25,000 civil servants were “overpaid” by between $400 and $20,000 over the past 10 years. It reflects very popular on the administrative efficiency and competence of the Public Services Department. Until the visit of the DAP delegation to Kelantan from January 26-28, the Chinese outside Kelantan had fallen victim of the campaign of lies of the MCA and Gerakan in the past few months and believed that the Chinese in Kelantan are in ‘deep waters and furnace heat’, and are ‘oppressed’ and ‘persecuted’ by the PAS-led Kelantan State Government because of Islamisation measures which infringe non-Muslim rights and interests. The Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Megat Junid Megat Ayob, said yesterday that an American organisation, the Pen American Centre;s Freedom to Write Committee, had protested to the Prime Minister against Malaysia’s violations of the freedom of the press in Malaysia. Pen American Centre has 2,500 members and is committed to freedom of expression.
