At the meeting with Tengku Razaleigh and other Semangat 46 leaders on February 5 in the second of fortnightly get-togethers of DAP and Semangat 46 leadership,the DAP will propose the launching of a series of AG/VIJI pornographic videotape scandal ceramahs in the constituencies of all Cabinet Ministers to hold them to account for their failure to act on the scandal. The decade of the 1990s have started badly with the Vijandran pornographic videotape scandal ballooning to become the AG/VIJI scandal, when the Attorney-General, Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman, made the shocking announcement on January 10 that he had ordered the destruction of the eleven Vijandran videotapes and four envelopes of 2,000 photographs. Challenge to Anwar Ibrahim and all Cabinet Ministers to make a solemn declaration that they have not viewed and have not been informed of the contents of the Vijandran videotapes and photographs.

The Government has declared 1990 as the Visit Malaysia Year, and is going all out to make Malaysia well-known internationally in order to attract tourists. As far as international publicity is concerned, there is no doubt that Malaysia has been having a very high international publicity profile since the beginning of the new year. Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman is not entitled to the establishment of a Tribunal before he could be removed, as he could be sacked simply by a decision of the Cabinet

I have this morning sent a second letter to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, also sent by hand to the Prime Minister’s Office, informing the Prime Minister that Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman is not entitled to the establishment of a Tribunal before he could be removed. DAP to send a petition to the Yang di Pertuan Agong to remove Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman as Attorney-General if Cabinet shirks its responsibility to sack the Attorney-General

If the Cabinet shriks its responsibility tomorrow and does not take any action to remove Tan Sri Abu Talib as Attorney-General, the DAP will send a petition to the Yang di Pertuan Agong to dispense with and terminate the services of Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman, as under Article 145, the Attorney-General serves at the pleasure of the Yang di Pertuan Agong.
