DAP invites Gerakan and MCA to join the DAP in the struggle for ‘Full Liberalisation’ of nation-building policies and to achieve the Ten Democratisations to give every Malaysian an equal place under the Malaysian sun.

This morning, in conjunction with tonight’s inaugural Ten-Night Penang ‘Tanjong 3’ Marathon Thousand-People Dinners, the DAP released its first Nation-Building Policies for Malaysia on ‘Full Liberalisation’ and the Ten-Point Democratisation Programme which will be the basis of the DAP elections manifesto in the next general elections. It is surprising to read in the press today that the Bar Council’s Syariah and Hudud laws Committee has endorsed the hudud laws passed by the PAS Kelantan State Government last November. October 17 should be the last date for the dissolution of Parliament if general elections are to be held this year.

This is why the DAP has sent out a ‘full alert’ to all DAP State Committees and Branches to be fully prepared for general elections to be held from 22nd October to 13th November this year. A critical indicator would be the UMNO Suspreme Council meeting on October 12. Is Election Commission seems to be having ‘clod feet’ in its call for a ‘free, fair and clear’ general elections, and its earlier strident calls to ensure that the next general election would have these three important attributes of a democratic elections have become very ‘muted’.

Is Election Commission seems to be having ‘clod feet’ in its call for a ‘free, fair and clear’ general elections, and its earlier strident calls to ensure that the next general election would have these three important attributes of a democratic elections have become very ‘muted’.

It will be very sad for the liberalization and democratization of Malaysia if the Election Commission should backtrack from is earlier call for ‘free, fair and clean’ general elections, before any headway had been achieved, just because of certain adverse reactions from those in power.
