How to be a good DAP Member of Parliament or State Assemblyman

Every DAP Member of Parliament and State Assemblyman must strive to be a good Member of Parliament and State Assemblyman. This is because the MPs and SAs are the public standard bearers of the Party, and their performance is a reflection of the performance of the Party.

Every DAP Member of Parliament and State Assemblyman has three duties: Continue reading How to be a good DAP Member of Parliament or State Assemblyman

I have sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak, proposing the establishment of special government department or agency to promote the economic growth and development of new villages in Malaysia.

My memorandum, which I sent to the Prime Minister a few days ago, was as follows:

“Yang Amat Berhormat Tun Haji Abdul Razak bin Dato Hussein, 21.9.1971 Continue reading DAP sends Memorandum to Tun Razak

DAP to launch nation-wide protest rallies

Speech by DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at a public rally at Seremban padang on Saturday, 25th Sept. 1971 at 7.30p.m.

DAP to launch nation-wide protest rallies against proposed government abolition of elected Municipal, town and local councils
The government’s move to abolish elected Municipal, town and local councils is the latest in a long series undemocratic Alliances measures to deny the people of Malaysia meaningful democratic rights.

The MCA must bear the greatest responsibility for the government’s decision to abolish elected local government. In fact, the MCA is the real murderer of grass-roots democracy in Malaysia.

After the 1969 general elections, where the MCA candidates were decisively rejected by the electorate, the MCA realized that it has lost out to the Opposition because of its own history of political dishonesty, corruption and immorality. Continue reading DAP to launch nation-wide protest rallies

Elected local government in Malaysia

Speech by DAP Malacca State Chairman and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr Lim Kit Siang, at the official opening of the Kota Utara DAP Branch in Malacca on Friday, 17th September 1971 at 3pm

Elected local government in Malaysia

The Minister for Local Government, Dato Ong Kee Hui, said last week that the State governments had agreed with the Federal Government that elected local councils and Municipalities should be abolished.

I do not know whether the State government had communicated these views to Dato Ong officially or informally, but whether officially or informally, these views are improper and unauthorized, as none of the State Assemblies had debated or decide on the future of elected local government in the country. DAP call for establishment of special government department to promote economic growth and development of new villages in Malaysia

For the last one year, inside and outside Parliament, over the press, radio and television, Malaysians were subject to ceaseless publicity and propaganda about the Second Malaysia Five Year Plan, how it would change the economy of the country, abolish poverty, create jobs and give a new hope and life to the poor and downtrodden in the country.

However, to one great group of Malaysians, all these publicity and propaganda do not make much of an impression or impact. Continue reading DAP call for establishment of special government department

Tour to Gajah Berang

Accompanied by DAP officials Sdr Ng Hoo Kiang and Chin Pak Loy, I continued my constituency tour yesterday, and visited Jalan Gajah Berang, which is partly in Kota Barat and partly in Kota Tengah State constituencies.

I am glad that a few days before my visit, the Municipality health workers have gone to the area and carried out anti-mosquito sprays after about a month’s neglect.

The drains in part of Jalan Gajah Berang are clogged with blackish refuse and dirt, gives off a very great stench, and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The Municipality should regularly clear drains, lallangs to remove breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies. Continue reading Tour to Gajah Berang
