Is a Government which is not prepared to take firm action against the criminals and crooks in the BMF, Co-operative Finance, Pan El and many other scandals qualified to instill moral values to prevent the occurrence of such scandals?

Is a Government which is not prepared to take firm action against the criminals and crooks in the BMF, Co-operative Finance, Pan El and many other scandals qualified to instill moral values to prevent the occurrence of such scandals?

The Prime minister, Datuk Seri Dr, Mahathir Mohamed, told Malaysian students in New York yesterday that the government would require all Malaysian school-leavers to undergo physical and spiritual training to inculcate in them moral values, before they are employed or allowed to go for further studies abroad. I congratulate Anwar Ibrahim on his decisive 194-vote majority victory over Syed Hamid Albar as UMNO Youth Leader. I regret however that Anwar Ibrahim had to make a rather extremist speech before the UMNO Youth elections, presenting the image that he is more a Malay political leader than a Malaysian political leader. Call on Inspectector-general of Police, Tan Sri Haniff Omar, to order the set-up of a high-poweres investigation team of experienced police officers to give top priority to complete investigations to prosecute directors and officers of co-operatives responsible for the $1.6 billion co-operative finance scandal

Call on Inspectector-general of Police, Tan Sri Haniff Omar, to order the set-up of a high-poweres investigation team of experienced police officers to give top priority to complete investigations to prosecute directors and officers of co-operatives responsible for the $1.6 billion co-operative finance scandal.

In the co-operative finance scandal, 540,000 depositors and members face the prospect of losing the bulk of their $1.6 billion deposits, because of the fraud, breach of trust, abuse of power and irresponsibility of certain directors and officers of co-operatives.
