Chan Took Chan and Ng Peng Huay’s statements in the last few days have brought out into the public the ^ of a ‘Level and Develop Bukit China faotion’ in the MCA and the Chinese community which is plotting to help the Malacca Chief Minister, Datuk Abdul Rahim Thumby Cik, ^ in the government plan to level and develop Bukit China into a housing and commercial centre, and ^ the earth for land reolamation projects. The Malacca State Government’s intention to level and develop Bukit China so as to use the earth to reclaim the sea and turn the area into a housing and commercial complex must be opposed so that the Malacca State Government drop the idea completely, without asking taking further action. DAP calls for the establishment of a University in Malacca, and for a 1990-objective of one-university for every State
In justifying the 70 million people new population policy of the government as announced in the mid-term review of the Fourth Malaysia Plan, the Minister of Information, Datuk Seri Adib Adam, said that the nation’s most important asset is its people and its natural resources.
