On Saturday, in a talk to the Guild of Graduates of Kuala Lumpur, Dr. Lim Chong Eu accused all those who are opposed to the National Front and coalition governments as ‘anti-national’.

Another essential item which concerns the poor in the Kampongs estates and new villages greatly, has gone up in price. The government has again given way to pressure from Big Business at the expense of the consumers.

The government approval for the increase in the price kerosene from 74 cents to 80 cents is an act which is calculated to add to the already insupportable economic hardships of the poor in Malaysia, who constitute the overwhelming majority in this country. Speech by DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at the Perak DAP State Convention held at Jubilee Park Hall, Jalan Brewster, Ipoh, on Sunday, 10th February, 1974 at 10.00 a.m.

1. DAP calls on Tun Razak to dissolve Parliament and hold fresh general elections on the expiry of the five-year mandate in May 1974.

The present government was elected on May 10, 1969 with a mandate to rule the country for a period of five years.

This mandate will expire in three months’ time. The DAP calls on Tun Razak ,to dissolve Parliament and hold fresh general elections so that the Alliance government would not exceed the five-year mandate it has received from the people.

I rise to refer to the $911,124 which is sought for the Election Commission to cover its expenses for this year. Out of this sum, the bulk of it, viz. $863,824, was to cover the cost of registration of electors and the revision of electoral rolls in Malaysia.
