Suhaimi Kamarrudin should ‘shut up’ about assurances that Chinese primary school should not change I character for he is not fir to make that assurance as he is ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ unless he repudiates his 1980 UMNO Youth speech calling for the implementation of Clause 21 (2) of 1962 Education Act
The UMNO Youth Leader, Deputy Education Minister, Haji Suhaimi Kamarrudin, yesterday received a high-level MCA delegation and declared that if there are requests for translation of the 3M teaching and educational guidebook into Chinese, the request would be considered. He also said that there should be no fear that Chinese primary schools would change in character with the implementation of the 3M system. Call on Public Services Department to feed the Prime Minister’s advice to use ‘common sense’ and not be guided by rigid and inflexible application of regulations which cause hardships.
Recently, the Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, called on government servants to have three ‘senses’, including common sense. Unfortunately, it would appear that the Prime Minister’s advice had fallen on deaf ears, and administrators are guided by blind, rigid and inflexible application of government regulations which cause hardship and are patently ridiculous. Call for the Walkathon Donation Forms given to school pupils for the Education Department Sports Carnival should be collected back immediately from all pupils or I will propose a $10 cut of salary of the Director of Education, Selangor, in Parliament.
Despite my call to the Education Minister, Dr. Sulaiman Daud, to countermand the Selangor Education Department circular sending primary school pupils into the streets to collect donations for a Education Department Sports Carnival, nothing has been done.
