DAP welcomes the lifting of all restrictions imposed on Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan , who was restricted to Seremban after being released from the Kamunting Detention Centre on Dec 22 last year after a 31-month detention under the Internal Security Act. The Police headquarters at Bukit Aman admitted for the first time the arrest of Anderson Mutang Urud under the Emergency (Public Order and Prevention of Crime) Ordinance 1969 but denied that there had been mass arrested of several indigenous people in Sarawak since January. I am gravely concerned by the statement by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Mohamed Noor, on Saturday claiming that the 38-year-old Ariffin Haji Hamid who was arrested under the Internal Security Act in Kota Kinabalu last Monday was being held in connection with the plot to take Sabah out of Malaysia. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, is visibly angry with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Human Development Report 1991 released on Thursday which ranked Malaysia 55th among 88 countries in the Human Freedom Index.
