I publicly invite the Deputy Minister for Land and Co-operatives, Datuk Khalid Yunus to attend the National Conference Against Land Acquisition Abuses and Injustices at the Federal Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday to prove that state government had not abused the land acquisition law and made the smallholders adversely affected by land acquisition ‘victims of development’ instead of ‘partners’ in the development of their land. The cancellation of four land acquisition sites by the Malacca State Government involving 352 hectares is a vindication of the fight of DAP for greater accountability, transparency and justice in the entire land acquisition process as well as the validity of the opposition of villagers and smallholders whose rights had been adversely affected by such arbitrary and inequitable acquisition. The Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar should sign a public undertaking committing the State Government to use consultation’ and renouncing the use of ‘force’ through the inequitable process of the Land Acquisition Act to resolve the Seremban II land acquisition controversy

The MCA Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Wong See Wah, has claimed that the Negri Sembilan State Exco has accepted the MCA representation that the Seremban II land acquisition controversy involving some 600 smallholders at Mambau, Rasah and Labu would be resolved through the ‘consultation’ process.
