The DAP Organising Secretary and Candidate for the Serdang State By-election, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, today issued the following statement:

It makes me sad to read Dr. Tan Chee Khoon’s press statement today accusing the DAP of distorting the Gerakan’s cultural stand.

Dear Sir,

I refer to your report of today’s date, p.7, under the heading: “DAP bidas Gerakan utamakan bahasa dan Kebudayaan Melayu”, paragraph 5:

“Beliau mengecham dasar Perikatan yang menjadikan hanya Bahasa Melayu sa-bagai Bahasa Kebangsaan.”

I shall be grateful if you publish the following correction, as this is incorrect:

Chakap-lah Bahasa Kebangsaan sahaja!

Speech by Editor of Rocket, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, and DAP Organising Secretary, at the second anniversary celebrations of the Rocket journal by the Penang DAP Branch at Dawood Restaurant on Monday, August 19 at 5 p.m

As I was crossing the Perak state border into Penang by car this afternoon, I saw a large hoarding board put up by the Penang State Government welcoming visitors. The hoarding board, in huge letters, carried the words “Chakap-lah Bahasa Kebangsaan sahaja!”

What struck me was the word “sahaja.” The declaration that people should speak in the National Language only clearly illustrate the “one nation, one language” policy of the Alliance Government. Continue reading Chakap-lah Bahasa Kebangsaan sahaja!

Dubbing television films

Speech by Editor of Rocket, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, and DAP Organising Secretary, at the Rocket Second Anniversary Celebrations at Lee Wong Kee Café on Wednesday, August 14 at 5 p.m.

Recently, the government dubbed the popular television series, the Samurai, from English to Malay.

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Inche Senu bin Abdul Rahman, subsequently announced that the experiment was a great success, and that other popular series were being dubbed as well. The next in line are ‘The Man from UNCLE’, ‘The Champions’ and ‘The Thriller’. Continue reading Dubbing television films
