Hari Raya Puasa Message

I wish all Muslims in Malaysia Selamat Hari Raya Puasa. Malaysia has been Merdeka for 20 years, and a new generation of Malaysians have grown up, celebrating Hari Raya Puasa without memories of political colonialism.

I had listened to the Royal address attentively, hoping to catch a new perception on the part of the government of the basic problems confronting Malaysia and indications of new policy directions. My attention was drawn to the speech by the former Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, at the Lions’ Club of George Town installation on July 27.

He said: “No country can be safe while its people are divided. DAP calls on Tun Razak to direct the National Bureau on Investigations (NBI) to investigate and act on the allegations of corruptions made by Berjaya leaders, who were for mere Sabah State Minister, about corrupt practices by the Tun Mustapha government.

Speech by Opposition Leader, DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament of Bandar Melaka, Mr.Lim Kit Siang, at the meeting of Perak DAP State officials, branch leaders at Perak Branch in Ipoh, Perak on Sunday, 18 August 1973.at 10.30a.m.

1. Call on the Prime Minister to hold an inquiry into the problem of racial polarisation among undergraduates in the University of Malaya.

In a speech to a student leadership training seminar last year, the late Tun Dr.Ismal said that Malaysia did not belong to any one racial group and warned of the dangers of polarisation among students and under-graduates.

The problem of polarisation among students and undergraduates should be a matter of grave national concern, and should merit the attention from the highest quarters in government.
