Penang State Exco Member who heads the State Science Technology and Human Resources Development Committee , Dr. Kang Chin Seng , said yesterday that the DAP should apologized for lies in connection with demolition of Hotel Metropole before continuing with the Hoel Metropole press statement war. MPPP councilors who are not prepared to take a firm stand on the Hotel Metrpole and Taman Midlands scandals should not take their oath of office tomorrow

Tomorrow , the MPPP councilors appointed by the Pennag Chief Moinister , Dr Koh Tsun Koon , last Tuesday for this year would take their oath of office. Bhd had completed a traffic impact study in Pulau Tikus in view of the proposed Taman Midlands developments project must come as a surprise to all concerned. In the past few days, I had told a few DAP State Assemblymen , including Sdr. Taoh Tik Huar, Sdr. Chow Kon Yoew, Sdr. K. Balasundram and Sdr. Tan Loo Jit of my prediction that when Datuk Tan Gim Hwa breaks his prolonged silence on the outrageous and scandalous demolition of Hotel Metropole – or ‘ Hotel Gerakan’ as it is know in the last two decades – the MPPP President would claim that the knew nothing about the demolition. One consequence of the Highland Towers Collapse Disaster in Ulu Klang, Selangor on December 11, 1993 where over 70 lives were lost , was the Cabinet decision on December 22, 1993 to freeze construction of all high-rise buildings in hilly areas.
