Kit Siang asks Tan Ghim Hwa to state before the MPPP Council meeting on Thursday whether Gerakan would support the DAP in parliament to amend Section 23 of the Local Government Act.

MPPP President, Tan Ghim Hwa, challenged me last Wednesday to have the Local Government Act amended, in Parliament to open all local authorities’ committee meetings to the public. The Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Megat Junid Megat Ayob, said on Sunday that local governments should allow the use of Chinese language on advertisements and signboards and should not abuse their powers to obstruct or destroy any one’s rights to use other languages apart from the National Language on advertisements and signboards.
