DAP Assemblymen will move a motion in the next State Assembly for the dismissal of the 24 MPPP Councillors if the MPPP refuses to allow Assemblymen, the public and the press to attend its meetings

DAP welcomes and commends the Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Prai (MPSP) for opening up its meeting to the presence of DAP Assemblymen, the public and the press yesterday although the meeting was quite a disappointment. DAP hopes that Tsu Koon will honour his State Assembly assurance on the reinstatement of the two demolished Thean Teik dwellings so that there is no need for the DAP Assemblymen to move a motion of censure against him

Yesterday, I announced at a press conference that the DAP Assemblymen will move a motion of censure against the Penang Chief Minister, Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, if he fails to honour his undertaking given in the Penang State Assembly on December 14 that the MPPP would rebuild the two demolished Thean Teik Estate dwellings belonging to Teoh Chong Poh after construction of a sewerage project. The Penang DAP State Committee, at its meeting last night, decided to send observers to attend MPPP and MPSP meetings to hold a watching brief for the ratepayers of both the Penang island and Seberang Prai, to monitor how the people’s interests are being looked after by the Councillors in the two Municipal Councils. Call on the 20 MPPP Councillors who had served previously to tender their resignations to coincide with the swearing-in of Tan Ghim Hwa as MPPP President so that the MPPP can start off on a new slate to clean up its ‘decadence and impotence’

Tomorrow, Tan Ghim Hwa would be sworn in as the new MPPP President. DAP calls on the 20 MPPP Councillors who had been reappointed from the previous MPPP to tender their resignations to coincide with the swearing-in so that the MPPP can start off on a completely new slate to clean up its ‘decadence and impotence’.
