DAP calls on Parliament to vote out any government requests for supplementary funds until the government has produced a satisfactory formula to honour its Gopeng by-election pledge of full ‘dollar-for-dollar’ cash refund to 588,000 co-operative depositors by latest March 1989

From the government’s parliamentary performance at the current meeting so far, one could not be blamed for thinking that the Dewan Rakyat was called primarily to enabled the government to ask and get approval for supplementary operating and development estimates for 1986 and this year. Ten Basis for National Unity

The 2M Government’s call for an efficient and competent administrator cannot succeed unless Parliament, as well as Ministers and Deputy Ministers, set an example of efficiency and competence.

I am concerned that Ministry and Deputy Ministers are becoming slipshod in their work, showing lack of grasp and sometimes total ignorance of their Ministerial responsibility, and when they do this in Parliament, they are not only doing their Ministerial posts a disservice, they are also showing Parliament no respect. Coalition Politics in Malaysia

Coalition politics seems to have become the latest political fashion and trend in Malaysia. It has become the talking point of the country – as confirmed by this evening’s forum – especially with the impending coalition negotiations between UMNO and PAS, and today’s press report that the Gerakan may dissolve itself to join the MCA.

Coalition politics is not new in Malaysia. In fact, the Alliance Party is itself a coalition of three communal political parties, or to be more correct, between UMNO on the one hand, and the MCA and MIC on the other. Continue reading Coalition Politics in Malaysia
