DAP calls on the Minister of Defence to allow retiring Air Force personnel to take a 18 month resettlement course to adjust them to civilian life

DAP calls on the Minister of Defence to allow retiring Air Force personnel to take a 18 month resettlement course to adjust them to civilian life

I have received complaints that Air Force personnel in the armed services who are retiring have been refused resettlement courses to adjust them to civilian life.

The Minister of Defence, Dato Hamzah, has said that the Ministry of Defence is providing 18-months course to retiring servicemen to adjust them to civilian life. I cannot understand therefore why retiring airmen in the services are discriminated against and not allowed a resettlement course period, and I call on the Minister of Defence to look into this and permit all retiring airmen a resettlement course, to prepare them to return to civilian life.

Call on leaders and members of Pekemas and other opposition parties and groups to join force with the DAP

Statement by DAP Secretary-General, Member of Parliament for Kota Melaka and State Assemblyman for Kubu, Lim Kit Siang, at a Press conference at DAP Malacca State Headquarters at 33A Jalan Munshi Abdullah, on Friday, 30th August 1974 at 11 a.m.

1. Call on leaders and members of Pekemas and other opposition parties and groups to join force with the DAP to present a strong opposition force to the National Front and promote the development of a two-party system in Malaysia

In the 1974 General Elections, the DAP succeeded in foiling the attempt of the National Front to impose a one-party state and government by the total elimination of Opposition parliamentary and state assembly candidates through a combination of unfair and undemocratic methods, e.g. the short campaign period; the control of the mass media especially radio and television; and the mass deregistration of voters especially in the urban areas where the National Front is unable to secure general popular support. Record-breaking crowd at Ipoh DAP Public Rally

Statement by DAP Secretary-General and Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka, Lim Kit Siang, to reporters on his arrival in Kuala Lumpur on 22nd August after attending the giant DAP public in Ipoh last night

1. Record-breaking crowd at Ipoh DAP Public Rally

I have just returned from Ipoh where I attended the DAP Public Rally in both in Ipoh and Batu Gajah. The turn-out at the Ipoh DAP Public Rally at the Children’s Playground is the biggest in the history of Perak, and is easily in the region of 25,000. The crowds of Tun Razak, which have invariably be stated to be 20,000 or 30,000 are very small by comparison by last night’s DAP rally turn-out. 1. DAP calls for the establishment of a permanent Commission entrusted with the twin tasks of ensuring that the Malay poor and the non-Malay National Front’s economic development plans.

In my public rally speech in Tanjong Malim on Sunday, 18th August, I challenged the National Front to set up a Commission of Inquiry to find cut whether the New Economic Policy and the Second Malaysia Plan have benefitted the rich Malays or the poor Malays in the last five years’ of operation. DAP calls on Tun Razak to intervene and settle the interpreter’s claims to allow them to get a just deal

DAP calls on Tun Razak to intervene and settle the interpreter’s claims to allow them to get a just deal

The DAP calls on the Prime minister, Tun Razak, to intervene in the court interpreters’ strike and accede to the interpreters’ claim for pay scale revisions, which had not been adjusted for 23 years, to prove that all workers can get a just and fair deal in Malaysia.

The DAP supports all efforts by workers to fight for a better deal. It is useless to have increasing GNP or to have one of the highest living standards in Asia, if our workers are lowly paid. This great contrast can only mean that the fruits of economic development have not been distributed equally and fairly among all sections of Malaysians, but are being monpolised by the Malaysian rich.

Chances of DAP capturing Perak State Government good

Statement by DAP Secretary-General and Parliamentary Candidate for Kota Melaka, Lim Kit Siang, at a Press Conference in Ipoh on Monday, 19th August 1974 at 11.30 a.m.

1. Chances of DAP capturing Perak State Government good

The chances of the DAP capturing Perak State Government in the August 24 general elections is good, provided that every vote is cast for the Rocket candidate.

At the Malaysian level, the National Front will form the Malaysian government with Tun Razak again as Prime Minister, but I urge the people where all the 46 Parliamentary candidates of the DAP is contesting to solidly vote for DAP candidates to deny the two-thirds majority to the National front to tamper with the constitution at will.
