Malaysia is the only country in the world where government forms An Education Consultative Council whose primary purpose is not to seek the people’s views about the new education proposals, but to suppress them from the public until after the general election.

DAP wants the final draft of the Education Bill to be made public even with the establishment of the 1990 Education Act Consultative Council.

The announcement by education minister, Anwar Ibrahim, that the cabinet has approved the setting up of a Education Act 1990 Consultative Council raises several questions, the most important of which is whether this is a ruse for the Barisan Nasional government to suppress the full contents and purpose of the Education Bill 1990 from the public until after the next general elections. Kit Siang to ask for Home Ministry approval to visit the three Sabahans detained at Kamunting Detention Centre

The three Sabahans detained in May by Police for allegedly being involved in a plot to take Sabah out of Malaysia have been served with formal two-year detention orders under the Internal Security Act and are now detained at the Kamunting Detention Centre.
