After my visit to the Pantai Remis for a ceramah on May 12, the Gerakan Publicity Bureau Director and Political Secretary to the Primary industries Minister, Dr. Kang Chin Seng, challenged me to produce within 48 hours a Gerakan member to say that ‘Keng Yaik is the most corrupt Minister in Malaysia who uses his overseas trips to put his corruption money in unnumbered Swiss bank accounts’. The Chinese community and all concerned about mother-tongue education must be vigilant to ensure that the current furore over the Barisan Nasional’s proposal to abolish the Boards of Management of 432 ‘fully-aided’ Chinese primary schools is not a smokescreen to hide other provisions in the 1990 Education Bill which highly detrimental to Chinese education.
