The 25,000-people Joint DAP-Semangat 46 National Ceramah at Dewan Sri Pinang on February 17, which launched off the national series of such ceramahs throughout the country, has clearly shaken the Gerakan leadership to its very core. Election Commission cannot supply Opposition parties with the new 1989 Electoral Roll until well past the snap 27-day voters’ registration exercise

The DAP had wanted to buy the new 1989 Electoral Roll to help the people to check whether their names are still on the Electoral Roll, or had disappeared and need to re-register, but we have been told by the Election Commission that they cannot sell and supply us with the new 1989 Electoral Roll until well after the end of the 27-day snap voters’ registration exercise on 27th March 1990. Election Commission caught red-handed as obeying the secret directives of UMNO Baru and Government to conduct snap voters’ registration exercise to benefit UMNO Baru and change election rules

The Election Commission has been caught red-handed as breaching the Constitutional provisions stipulating that it should enjoy public confidence by being independent of all political parties, including the ruling government of the day, in carrying out its constitutional duties to be responsible for all aspects in the conduct of elections.
