I have today cabled the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, reminding him of his public commitment when announcing the establishment, composition and terms of reference of the Ahmad Nordin BMF Inquiry Committee into the $2.5 billion Bumiputra Malaysia Finance loans scandal in Hong Kong on January 11, 1984. MCA can never hope to have any effective voice in the government so long as the MCA leadership and Tan Koon Swan in particular is bogged down by the Pan El crisis

The Tan Koon Swan MCA faction, in the MCA party elections, proclaimed a ‘Programme for Revitalisation’ for the MCA and the Malaysian Chinese community on Nov.21,1985,which pledged that if the Tan faction is elected, the MCA leadership would work towards ‘effective government representation’ in the policy formulation process of the government whether in the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council, the Cabinet or the State Executive Councils. I have not yet made up my mind whether I would be accepting the Penang DAP State Committee’s offer to contest in Penang in next general elections, but Penang is now my base of operations to make Penang the DAP’s front-line state

The DAP views with grave concern the desecration of some 200 graves in the Bukit Serindit Catholic cemetry in Malacca, where statues of Mary, statuettes of angels and crosses were smashed and strewn all over the cemetery. Call on all parents to be concerned about the repeated incidents of Malaysian Chinese girl students being converted into Islam against parental wishes or knowledge and family break-ups

With another incident in Pasir Mas in Kelantan where a 18-year old girl student of Pasir Mas Sultan Ibrahim Girls’ School, disappearing from her home after completing her examinations on reaching the age of 18, all parents should be concerned about the rising number of such incidents, where Chinese girl students are converted into Islam against parental wishes or knowledge.
