Ten Basis for National Unity

The 2M Government’s call for an efficient and competent administrator cannot succeed unless Parliament, as well as Ministers and Deputy Ministers, set an example of efficiency and competence.

I am concerned that Ministry and Deputy Ministers are becoming slipshod in their work, showing lack of grasp and sometimes total ignorance of their Ministerial responsibility, and when they do this in Parliament, they are not only doing their Ministerial posts a disservice, they are also showing Parliament no respect. On October 25, I fulfilled the promise I made to the people of Kepayang during the by-election campaign to proclaim the KEPAYANG DECLARATION in Parliament so that the government, Parliament and the whole nation knows about the aspirations of Malaysians for a Malaysia of ‘many languages and many cultures’, and their rejection of a Malaysia of ‘one language, one culture’. Call on Penang Chief Minister, Dr. Lim Chong Eu, to get the developers of Thean Teik Estate, Perumahan Farlim (Penang) Sdn. Bhd. to immediately halt all work and pull out all workers until a full settlement is reached

Call on Penang Chief Minister, Dr. Lim Chong Eu, to get the developers of Thean Teik Estate, Perumahan Farlim (Penang) Sdn. Bhd. to immediately halt all work and pull out all workers until a full settlement is reached

After meeting officials of the Thean Teik Estate residents’ association in Penang yesterday, the Penang Chief Minister, Dr. Lim Chong Eu said that he might intervene in the dispute between the residents and the developers, and that he would give them a reply next week on whether he could intervene. The DAP, which led the attack against Societies Act Amendments in Parliament in April last year, which created a distinction between political societies and ordinary societies and other restrictions on the free operation of societies, welcome the 1982 Societies Amendment Bill tabled in Parliament for first reading on Thursday. One Language, One Culture

On behalf of the DAP, I rise to thank His Majesty for His Royal Address yesterday in conjunction with the official opening of the First Session of the Sixth Parliament, setting out the Government’s policy statement of the year.

Israel cannot disclaim responsibility for the genocidal massacres of Palestinians as Beirut was completely under their military control during the massacres.
