MCA, Gerakan and MIC leaders should jointly ask for an emergency meeting of Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting to bring an immediate end to the national and international ignominy faced by the nation and people because of the Rahim Tamby Cik scandals.

Gerakan is the only Barisan Nasional political component which has declared publicly that it regards Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Cik’s scandals as an UMNO matter and should be left to UMNO to resolve. Yesterday, there was another fire at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This time, it was a short-circuit which caused sparks and smoke, at a money changer’s counter at Terminal One at 10 a.m. The fire was put out by security guards. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, said in Gurun yesterday that Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Cik will remain as Malacca Chief Minister and UMNO Youth leader although an investigation into his alleged affair with a 15-year-old schoolgirl is on-going, as it will be unfair to pass a sentence on him until it is proven he had done something wrong.
