Why the country and people need a strong and dedicated opposition party in Parliament

The DAP has, over the last one year, demonstrated what a strong and dedicated Opposition Party in Parliament can do for the people.

For over 20 years, the 900,000 people in the 400-odd new villages in Malaysia had been neglected. They were starved of development funds, had no adequate health, social and educational facilities, no job opportunities for their youths, and were generally left to decay and die. I am today releasing the letter Goh Hock Guan wrote to me on October 15, 1970, after I had withdrawn as Chairman of Selangor State Sub-Committee in his favour, and a few days after my meeting of party leadership and responsibility, as National Vice Chairman. At that meeting, he demanded to become Party Chairman, but I made it very clear to him that it was completely out of the question.

A letter of protest to General Manager of Bernama entitled “False Bernama Report”

The DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, has yesterday sent a letter of protest to the General Manager of Bernama, calling for an inquiry into a false Bernama report using his name without authority or basis. His letter reads:
