In immediate acceptance of the challenge by MCA President, Datuk Dr.Ling Liong Sik, to make public the DAP Save Bukit China fund within a week, I had fixed the Emperor Hotel in Malacca on Saturday at 10 a.m. as the venue and date for Liong Sik to meet me personally on the DAP Save Bukit China fund. I am announcing at this Press Conference the establishment of DAP Second Save Bukit China Committee to launch a second Save Bukit China campaign, in view of the unreasonable, punitive and oppressive threat by the Malacca State Government to forfeit Bukit China, the most ancient Chinese cemetry hill in Malaysia, if the trustees, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple Inc, does not pay up $8 million in less than two months by 18th September. The Sabah Commissioner of Police, Haji Ahmad Maulana Babjee, was reported today as having told a PBS Youth delegation that the police had not yet investigated the involvement of political leaders of the recent illegal demonstrations in Sabah because of a shortage of manpower.
