I had asked for new approaches and concepts in organization to better equip the Party for the Eighties. New ideas and approaches should not be confined to Organisation, but must apply to all fields of Party activity.

The Chairman of the Selangor MCA Liaison Committee, Datuk Lee Kim Sai, has denied that the Selangor and Rawang MCA have been using their political connections to block the lifting of the clamp-down on free movement of inmates and visitors at the Sungei Buloh Leprosarium, which has caused great hardships to the inmates, resulting in financial losses from loss of sales of flowers and fruits, and other inconveniences. The Government ban on the Oct. 22 meeting of Merdeka University is highly unfair, undemocratic and one – sided.

As the Home Affairs Minister, Tan Sri Ghazalie Shafie, admitted the Oct. 22 meeting called by the Merdeka University Sdn. Bhd. is lawful – but because the Merdeka University authorities intended to proceed with the lawful meeting, the Ministry of Home Affairs has banned it on grounds of ‘public order and national security’. The Party Central Executive Committee, at its ordinary meeting, yesterday, discussed the matter of the six Perak DAP State Assemblymen who did not take the second oath of allegiance to the Sultan of Perak during the Perak State Assembly swearing – in ceremony on August 4, because there is no provision in the Perak State Constitution for non – Perak state nationals to take the second oath of allegiance. I am surprised by what happened in the Perak State Assembly two days ago, where at the swearing in of the new State Assemblymen, six DAP Assemblymen did not take the oath of allegiance to the Head of State because the Perak State Constitution provides that a non – Perak national need not take such an oath. Last Wednesday, at a Malacca National Front elections thanksgiving dinner, the Education Minister, Datuk Musa Hitam, made a very fierce attack on the DAP and alleged that we won 16 Parliamentary seats because of support of one race.
