In the past few days, the Election Commission Chairman, Datuk Harun Din as well as Barisan Nasional leaders had been doing their utmost to convince the people that the unprecedented cancellation of the Election Commission’s exercise to review and redelineate parliamentary and state assembly constituencies had nothing to do with the DAP legal action against the Election Commission. The Election Commission Chairman, Datuk Harun Din, yesterday claimed that the cancellation of its exercise to review and redelineate parliamentary and state assembly constituencies in the country has no connection with my legal action against the Election Commission challenging the legality and constitutionality of its review and redelineation exercise. The Election Commission has denied that it is acting unconstitutionally in violating the eight-year rule in the Federal Constitution in beginning to review redelineation of constituencies with a special meeting of the Election Commission top officers at the Cameron Highlands on June 25 and 26-more than a year ahead of the constitutional deadline.
