DAP calls on Anwar Ibrahim to present a supplementary estimates Bill in the April Parliament to provide RM189 million as grants to the 51 Chinese Independent Secondary Schools in Malaysia apart from Sabah

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Datuk Sen Anwar Ibrahim, said in Sandakan yesterday that the Federal Government financial support of Chinese Independent Secondary Schools is a ‘long-term national investment’. The Law Minister , Datuk Syed Hamid Albar has said that the Government would review the Federal Constitution and might propose an amendment to the Constitution to provide that the offence rather than the sentence determine the disqualification of a person to hold elective office whether as Member of Parliament or State Assemblymen. If parliament has to pass laws to impose mandatory minimum RM 2000 fine for non-payment of 50-sen toll, will it next be asked to pass similar laws for default payment of electricity and telephone bills?

I commend the DAP Federal Territory State Committee for deciding to organize a mass signature campaign on protest against the government attempt to pass the Federal Roads (private Managemnet )( amendent ) Bill 1993 which will impose a mandatory minimum fine of RM 2000 and a maximum of RM 5000 – for non-paymnet of 50 sen toll for roads and brigdes. DAP will lose all its four Parliamentary seats in Perak if the next general elections is worse than the 1982 general elections

DAP will lose all its four Parliamentary seats in Perak if the next general elections is worse than the 1982 general elections

In the 1990 general elections , DAP won four Parliamentary and 13 State Assembly seats in Perak. If the next general elections is going to be the worst general elections for the DAP – and even worse than the 1982 general elections results – as being forecast by the MCA and political analysts, then the DAP will lose all its four Parliamentary seats in Perak when Parliament is dissolved any time after June this year.
