The DAP will officially launch the Defend Sabah State Constitution campaign at the Chinese Assembly Hall, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday, Sept. 3 after I had repeated my parliamentary speech on the Report of the Committee of Privileges on Fung Ket Wing-Harris Salleh on the Labuan land ownership the speech which I was challenged by Datuk Harris Salleh to repeat in Sandakan Dewan Masyarakat at 10 a.m. this morning but who, in the last minute, chickened out by banning me from entry into Sabah via Kota Kinabalu. I would repeat my speech at 8 p.m. on Sept. 3. On August 20, 1984, I wrote to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr, Mahathir Mohamed, asking for firm disciplinary to be taken against Datuk Harris Salleh, Sabah Chief Minister, for violating Article 6(5) of the Sabah State Constitution. This clause prohibits the Sabah Chief Minister from activity engaging in commercial enterprise, but Datuk Harris Salleh was director of at least three companies during his tenure as Sabah Chief Minister. National Language (Extension and Amendment) Bill enacted without consultations and consent of people of Sarawak and Sabah undermines the process of national integration, especially between East and West Malaysia.

For the last two days, Barisan MPs, both from Peninsular Malaysia as well as Sarawak and Sabah, including phoney Independents from Sabah, had been concentrating their fire on the DAP MPs from Kuching, Sdr. Sim Kwang Yang, DAP MP from Sibu, Ling Sie Ming and DAP from Sandakan, Sdr. Fang Ket Wing, for opposing the national Language (Extension and Amendment) Bill.
