I had accurately read the character of the MCA President, Datuk Ling Liong Sik, when I issued a counter-challenge to him yesterday to a series of nation-wide debate, starting with seven states of Penang, Perak Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Johore, on his allegation that I had sold out the Chinese rights and interests in my eagerness to become Penang Chief Minister. Why are Ean Kwong and Chong Eu so silent about the fact that hundreds of cheques had been operated by Sun Lee & Co which Ean Kwong claimed was not an active account?

Why are Ean Kwong and Chong Eu so silent about the fact that hundreds of cheques had been operated by Sun Lee & Co which Ean Kwong claimed was not an active account?

A week had passed since I challenged the Penang Speaker, Datuk Ooi Ean Kwong, to deny that he had operated hundreds of cheques for the Sun Lee & Co during the 27 months he was barred from business from December 1986 to March 1989. Call on Dr. Mahathir to set up a Cabinet Committee to implement the resolutions adopted by the Federation of Malaysian Hokkien Association annual meeting.

When he declared open the Federation of Malaysian Hokkien Association annual meeting on Monday, the Prime Minster, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, pledged that the Government would co-operate closely with the Federation as the Government takes the views of the Federation seriously. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, said yesterday that the Government is paying $100,000 a day in compensation to the Jalan Cheras toll project developer, Teratai K.G. Sdn. Penang Assembly Speaker, Datuk Ooi Ean Kwong, is so afraid that Karpal Singh and I will appear at the next Penang Assembly meeting to question and expose him on his violation of the Penang Constitution by being unconstitutionally and unlawfully involved in business that he called a press conference yesterday to declare that both of us are still barred from the Penang Assembly.
