Ling Liong Sik should confirm whether he had prior knowledge and given authorization to the action by the eight Selangor MCA State Assemblymen to send in their threat of collective resignation on December 15

The threat by the eight Selangor MCA State Assemblymen to collectively resign by December 15 if there are no suitable amendments to the Selangor Islamic Law Enactment has raised many questions as to whether this is just a political ploy. It has now come to my attention and knowledge that after the three – hour MCA Central Committee meeting on Wednesday, 29. 11. 1989, the MCA President, Datuk Ling Liong Sik and the MCA Deputy President, Lee Kim Sai, actually gave three versions of the three – paragraph MCA Central Committee statement to three different language media on the issue of the eight MCA Selangor State Assemblymen. Now that the Cabinet had yesterday endorsed the signing of an agreement with the Communist Party of Malay in the interest of the country’s security, peace, stability and prosperity, the next step is for Parliament to give ratification to the agreement to be signed in Haadyai on Saturday, Dec. 2.
