After last Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, Cabinet spokesman Datuk Rais Yahim announced that the government is looking into ways of assisting companies that are adversely affected by the present slowdown. On 18th May 1986, at the press conference after a dialogue with Koperasi Serbaguna Malaysia (KSM) liaison committee members in Kuala Lumpur on the Multi- Purpose Holdings problems, the MPH spokeman Datuk Oon Seng Lee confirmed that Tan Koon Swan had replied $18 million on May 7, while the balance of $5 million was by the way of a post- dated cheques for 19th May 1986.
