Call on Attorney-General to intervene and investigate whether the belated arrest of former DAP MP for Lanang, Wong Sing Nang allegedly tor an election offence is a case of bias and victimisation against the opposition

Sarawak DAP State Chairman and former DAP MP for Lanang, Wong Sing Nang , was arrested .by the police in Sibu on Wednesday, and he would be charged in the Sibu Sessions Court on Monday, 16th October 1995 for an election offence during the. April 1995 general election. Read the rest of this entry »

Attorney-General praised for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up

Attorney-General praised for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up in Jalan Ipoh on May 12 and calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the death of Lee Guat Leonq as well as in all cases of police bias in investigations involving police officers.

DAP commends the Attorney-General, Datuk Mohtar Abdullah for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up in Jalan Ipoh on May 12 and ordering a judicial inquiry to establish the Identity of the perpetrators to “clear ail doubts” in connection with the case.

Mohtar made it clear that the police investigation cast, serious and grave suspicion on certain officers over the death of Lee Quat Leong, 42, who was picked up on suspicion of involvement in the muiti-million-ringgit break -in at the Mayban Finance branch office at Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, in March this year where burglars dubbed the “Tunnel Rats” burrowed into the strongroom of the finance company during the Halri Raya holidays and carted away cash, jewellery and other valuables amounting to about RM30 million. Last Sunday, Seremban appeared to be the capital of crime and lawlessness in the country when some 200 FRU and police personnel were mobilised for over five hours at the Seremban central market since 6 am closing off roads, as if the country was faced with an even greater threat to public order and security when compared to the darkest day during the Communist Emergency.
