DAP calls for a government freeze on all price increases

Today, it is widely reported that the price of condensed milk is expected to go up shortly by about five cents a tin. Only last October, the price of condensed milk went up by five cents a tin.

DAP condemns five cents increase in sugar price

The DAP condemns the government’s approval of five cents increase in the price of sugar, which has further increased the hardships of the much-suffering kampong people, the farmers, estate labourers, new villagers, town workers.

We particularly deplore Tun Tan Siew Sin’s approval of the sugar price increase, after my colleagues and I in the DAP had warned the government not to give in to the demand of the sugar manufacturers to increase the price of sugar. Continue reading DAP condemns five cents increase in sugar price

We read in today’s papers Tun Abdul Razak announcement that the Alliance and the People’s Progressive Party have agreed to form a coalition Government in Perak.

The step taken by the Democratic Action Party to form a committee to look into the problems affecting the estate workers and the Committee’s decision to submit a Memorandum to Tun Razak is laudable. In view of this, we the estate workers should come forward and give whatever help we can to the Committee.

The observation made by Lim Kit Siang that for many years, the estate workers have been faced with massive retrenchment, fragmentation of estates, loss of job during old age which has resulted in them losing their homes as well as their security is very true.
