Challenge to MCA to declare its stand on proposed abolition of elected Municipal, town and local councils

Up till today, the MCA has kept silent about the government’s proposed abolition of elected Municipal, town and local councils.

After the 1969 General Elections, the people were told that there is a new MCA, which is brave and dedicated to the interest of the people, unlike the old MCA which knows only how to kowtow to the orders of the Alliance government. The people were assured that the new MCA with a lot of new faces will bravely fight for the basic interests of the people, whatever the political price or the displeasure they may incur from the Alliance government. Speech by DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at a public rally held at Jalan Pekeliling, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday, 8th November 1971 at 10 p.m.

Barbed wires in the people’s hearts and minds

Barbed wires have gone up in Tanah Hitam New Village in Perak, and the country is swiftly returning to the old Emergency days.

Even more serious than the barbed wires the Alliance Government has now fenced off the Tanah Hitam New Village, and which it will put up in other New Villages in the area, however, are the ‘barbed wires’ which it has put up in the hearts and minds of the people of Malaysia, which alienate and antagonise them from the government and society, through its undemocratic and oppressive policies. DAP calls on Tun Razak to issue a directive to all State Government to cancel all pleasure trips abroad for State Assemblymen

Press Statement by DAP Secretary-General & Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang on 1st November 1971

DAP calls on Tun Razak to issue a directive to all State Government to cancel all pleasure trips abroad for State Assemblymen

When the Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak, spoke to heads of Ministries and government departments at a briefing at the National Operations Room in Kuala Lumpur two days ago, he told them to ‘cut down their trips abroad and concentrate on work at home.’ He said too many senior government officials were making frequent trips abroad.

We in the DAP hope that the Prime Minister will implement his instructions. The most guilty people, however, are the Ministers, Assistant Ministers and the other top government leaders who seem to take every conceivable opportunity to go overseas at public expense to enjoy themselves. DAP calls for a government White Paper on “The Future of Malaysia’s 750,000 New Villages”

Speech by DAP Secreatary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, when addressing members of Seremban DAP Branch on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8p.m.

DAP calls for a government White Paper on “The Future of Malaysia’s 750,000 New Villages”

A month ago, I wrote a letter to the Prime Minister proposing the establishment of a special government department or agency to take special charge of the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes which will transform the country’s 400 new villages into a genuine dynamic force for agricultural and economic development.

I suggested that such a special New Villages department or agency should be entrusted first with the task of drawing up a blueprint to revive the economy of the new villages, and develop them into flourishing new growth centres by modernizing their economy, the raising of their productivity and incomes, the generation of new employment opportunities through dispersal of industries to new villages, allocation of land to the landless, and the provision of modern social services as public housing, electricity, water, medical services, improved educational opportunities and recreational and community services. DAP to stamp out political parasites

Speech by DAP Secretary-General and Member of Parliament for Bandar Melaka, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at the Seremban DAP Branch on Saturday, 30th Oct. 1971 before starting on his two-day inspection tour of the Seremban Timor Parliamentary constituency

DAP to stamp out political parasites

Seremban Timor Parliamentary constituency, which includes the two DAP State seats of Rahang and Sungei Ujong, is my third visit in my national tour of all DAP parliamentary and State constituencies to check on the constituency performance of Dap Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen, and to seek public views as to how DAP constituency service can be further improved.

The people had high hopes of the DAP when they voted solidly for the DAP candidates in the 1969 general elections. It is the resolve of the DAP Central Executive Committee that every DAP Member of Parliament and State Assemblymen should live up to the public expectations, and conscientiously serve the people, party and country. DAP calls on Tun Razak to declare Malaysia’s readiness to establish diplomatic relations with China

The admission of the People’s Republic of China into the United Nations is the triumph of justice and truth over brute power and money.

All of United States of America’s gold and dollar could do was to keep out China from her rightful place in the United Nations and the Security Council for 21 years. Continue reading DAP calls on Tun Razak to declare Malaysia’s readiness to establish diplomatic relations with China

Call on people assert their basic political and economic rights if they want a more just and equal Malaysian society

The people of Malaysia must assert their basic political and economic rights if they want to build a more just and equal Malaysian society for themselves, their children and their children’s children.

Month after month, we find people all over the country becoming more and more frustrated by the political and economic policies of the government. Continue reading Call on people assert their basic political and economic rights
