In my five-day pre-election political visit to Sarawak beginning today, I will visit Miri, Bintulu, Sarikei, Sibu and Kuching. The DAP will follow very closely the Oya state by-election in Sarawak, which is a straight fight between the PBB candidate, Wan Madzihi Wan Mahdoz, and the former PBB Assemblyman, Datuk Salleh Jafaruddin, who is openly supported by the former Sarawak Governor and Chief Minister, Tun Rahman Yakub. The MCA President, Tan Koon Swan, said in Johore Bahru yesterday that the MCA would not support the extension of the New Economic Policy. A day earlier iin Kluang, Tan Koon Swan said that the MCA will take steps to amend the Federal Constitution if the Supreme Court ruled that parents do not have in the choice of religion of their children in the Susie Teoh case. Call on Tung/Chiau Chung officials responsible for the 1982 strategy of ‘Attack into the Barisan Nasional to recrify Barisan Nasional’ to admit the grave error of their decision, and to direct these like Ker Choo Ting, Koh Tsu Koon and others who joined Gerakan on this mission to withdraw from Barisan or to lose all forms of Tung/ Chiau Chung support.

Call on Tung/Chiau Chung officials responsible for the 1982 strategy of ‘Attack into the Barisan Nasional to recrify Barisan Nasional’ to admit the grave error of their decision, and to direct these like Ker Choo Ting, Koh Tsu Koon and others who joined Gerakan on this mission to withdraw from Barisan or to lose all forms of Tung/ Chiau Chung support.

With the approach of the next general elections, Tung/ Chiau Chung officials who in 1982 mobilised electoral support for the Barisan Nasional seems to have swerved to the other extreme in wanting to mobilize electoral support for PAS and PAS CCC.
