Segamat Utara voters will go to the polls

Speech by DAP Organising Secretary, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, at a DAP Segamat Utara Parliamentary by-election rally at Kampong Abdullah, Segamat, on Thursday, October 17, 1968 at 8 p.m.

In two days time, the voters of Segamat Utara will go to the polls to decide who should be their next Member of Parliament.

They have before them, two candidates, two parties and two policies.

DAP offers to put up MCA posters free of charge

The DAP Organising Secretary, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, today (6.9.68) issued the following statement:

The MCA membership drive chairman, Mr. Lee San Choon, was reported in the Straits Times today as describing the DAP Poster War with the MCA as a “panicky and jealous act.”

Mr. Lee wants to mislead himself and the public. The DAP is the least concerned about the MCA membership drive to spend $30,000 to get 50,000 new members.

In fact, the DAP has called on the hundreds of thousands of unemployed in Malaysia to join the MCA, because the $10,000 which the MCA is giving out as prize-money, will come in handy and useful as relief money for the unemployed. Continue reading DAP offers to put up MCA posters free of charge

MCA Membership Drive

The DAP Organising Secretary, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, today (3.9.68) issued the following statement:

The MCA launched a membership drive yesterday to get 50,000 new members in the next three months.

Earlier press reports disclosed that the MCA is spending more than $30,000 on this campaign, $10,000 of which will be used as prizes for people who can recruit the most members.

DAP forms elections bureau

Speech by DAP Organising Secretary, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, to the Johore DAP State Committee at its monthly meeting held at the Muar DAP Branch premises on Sunday, 1st September 1968 at 11 a.m.

The Central Executive Committee has formed an elections bureau to make preparations for the forthcoming general elections.

Operation Registration

Speech by DAP Organising Secretary, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, to the Jelupang DAP Branch on Sunday, August 18, 1968 at 8 p.m.

The Democratic Action Party will launch a nation-wide campaign from September 1 to October 10 to get citizens who have not registered as voters to register themselves.

This will be the last chance to register before the next general elections. It is the basic duty of a citizen in a democratic country to exercise his vote in elections, to take part in the democratic process of deciding how this country is to be governed. Continue reading Operation Registration

DAP makes a bid for the Negri Sembilan State Government

Speech by Editor of the Rocket, Mr. Lim Kit Siang, and DAP Organising Secretary, at the Second Anniversary Celebrations of the Rocket journal by the Seremban DAP Branch on Friday, August 16 at 7 p.m.

On June 30, the UMNO Secretary-General, Inche Khir bin Johari, warned UMNO members in Johol that Negri Sembilan is a “danger” state for the Alliance, and that the Democratic Action Party might capture the State Government in the next elections.

This is the measure and extent of the impact the Democratic Action Party, under the dedicated and distinguished leadership of Dr. Chen Man Hin, and support of DAP members and supporters, has made in a short period of slightly over two years. Various attempts to break-up DAP – PPP electoral pact

Talk by DAP Organising Secretary, Mr Lim Kit Siang, to the Perak State Sub-Committee at Ipoh on Sunday, May 19 at 11 a.m.

There have been various attempts to predict or engineer the break – up of the electoral pact reached between the Democratic Action Party and the People’s Progressive Party.

The Perak Mentri Besar said he was confident that the DAP – PPP electoral pact would not last long.

Election-itis hits Malaysia

A new disease, election-itis, has hit Malaysia. This is a disease which occurs once in five years, with the approach of the general elections.

As the general elections draws near, more and more people will be bitten by the election bug, and work themselves into a fit of election fever and frenzy.
