Call on Defence Ministry to explain why Tun Mustapha was allowed the use of RMAF helicopter for campaigning in the Ulu Padas parliamentary by-election in Sabah.

In the recent Ulu Padas Parliamentary by-election in Sabah which was won by PBS candidate, State Local Government and Housing Minister, Kadoh Agundong, the USNO President, Tun Mustapha, used a RMAF helicopter during the campaign in aid of the Berjaya candidate. Speech by Parliamentary Opposition Leader, DAP Secreatry- General and MP for Kota Melaka, Lim Kit Siang, at the Perak DAP State Committee meeting held at Teluk Intan DAP branch premises, Teluk Intan, Perak on Saturday, Sept 14 .1985 at 4 p.m.

Call on DAP leaders and members not to rule out completely the possibility of general elections being held by early next year.

The prevailing opinion today is that it is impossible for general elections to be held this year, and that because of the MCA troubles, general elections could be held as late as 1987 for the full parliamentary term to be completed. General Elections may be held in November after the Prime Minister’s China trip

Speech by Parliamentary Opposition Leader, DAP Secretary-General and MP for Kota Melaka, Lim Kit Siang, at a DAP ceramah at Ayer ltam on Saturday, 6.7.1985 at 8 pm, during the two-day tour of Bukit Bendera parliamentary constituency.

General Elections may be held in November after the Prime Minister’s China trip.

There are indications that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, may be seriously considering calling snap general elections after his China trip in November. If this happens, then it will be the first time in Malaysian history when general elections are held at the end of the year. The Sabah general elections is a great day for parliamentary democracy for Malaysia. The virtually total rejection of Berjaya, and in particular the personal defeats of the former Berjaya Chief Minister Datuk Harris Salleh and seven State Ministers and Six Assistant State Ministers, is a clear-cut and ambiguous proclamation by the people of Sabah of their repudiation of Berjaya politics of fear, money and corruption.
