This is why no other Barisan Nasional Minister or MP had talked about a “civil society” although it had formed a constant theme of Anwar Ibrahim’s speeches, whether inside or outside the country – including his previous budget speeches. Call on education minister to learn more from the divisive history of the 1961 Education Act and ensure that the new 1995 Education Bill is accepted by all races and language groups in the country as an instrument of national unity.

Call on education minister to learn more from the divisive history of the 1961 Education Act and ensure that the new 1995 Education Bill is accepted by all races and language groups in the country as an instrument of national unity.

It is most disturbing that although the Barisan Nasional Government has taken some ten years to finalise the new Education Bill 1995, which it said would be presented to parliament in December for adoption, the new Education Bill 1955 and three other new education bills governing higher education and private education institutions have not been made public for study and feedback. The detonation of the third French nuclear test in the South Pacific at 6 a.m. Malaysia time yesterday is further proof of French definance of international opinion and morality and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. DAP calls for Tenaga Nasional’s tariff restructuring proposal to be made public for feedbacj from consumers before any approval is given by the Cabinet.

Tenaga deputy general manager (Customer Service) Datuk Nik Mohamed Nik Abdullah said in Kedah that domestic consumers would soon pay less for electricity as Tenaga Nasional has agreed to charge 20 sen for every unit of power for the first 200 units.
