Negri Sembilan DAP leaders, members and branches have resolved to make a new start to re-establish the state’s political leadership and influence in the national struggle for Full Liberalisation ada democratisation in Malaysia

I have come to this press conference in view of the decision of the Negri Sembilan DAP State Committee to ask the DAP Central Executive Committee for guidance and direction and to take over the Negri Sembilan State GAP so that the Negri Sembiian DAP could re-establish its political leadership and influence in the national struggle for Full Liberalisation and democratisation in Malaysia. UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Mohamad Rahmat said yesterday that UMNO had sent out an invitation to ill political parties to an all-party protest meeting against French nuclear tests on October 24 at 2.30 p.m. to be chaired by UMNO President, Dat.uk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, .at the Putra world Trade Centre. DAP commends the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed for his directive to the Information Ministry to review its outdated guidelines banning television screening of foreign costume dramas. Attorney-General praised for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up

Attorney-General praised for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up in Jalan Ipoh on May 12 and calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the death of Lee Guat Leonq as well as in all cases of police bias in investigations involving police officers.

DAP commends the Attorney-General, Datuk Mohtar Abdullah for rejecting police investigations into the death of air-condition mechanic in police lock-up in Jalan Ipoh on May 12 and ordering a judicial inquiry to establish the Identity of the perpetrators to “clear ail doubts” in connection with the case.

Mohtar made it clear that the police investigation cast, serious and grave suspicion on certain officers over the death of Lee Quat Leong, 42, who was picked up on suspicion of involvement in the muiti-million-ringgit break -in at the Mayban Finance branch office at Taman Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, in March this year where burglars dubbed the “Tunnel Rats” burrowed into the strongroom of the finance company during the Halri Raya holidays and carted away cash, jewellery and other valuables amounting to about RM30 million. There cannot be a worse, start for the Independent. Board of Visitors for the immigration detention centres to protect the international reputation of Malaysia than to Jose public credibility and confidence because of government failure to honour its promise to appoint representives from the Opposition and independent. DAP calls on Ekran Bhd to explain whether it had commissioned a study specifically on whether the Bakun dam design could itself trigger off an earthquake, and if so to make public the study

The 7-Richter-scale Sumatra earthquake on Saturday, which killed 100 people, injured 700 and destroyed or damaged. 10,000 buildings, should make Malaysians more earthquake-conscious – especially as the tremors rocked the Bukit Chagar and Larkin flats in Johore Bahru, which housed 6,000 people.
