Denial that I am drawing pensions from Selangor, and suggest no Minister, Deputy Minister, Menteri Besar, Chief Minister, MP or Assemblymen should draw more than $3,000 a month of pension for his various elective offices

During the recent UMNO General assembly, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, in his winding speech referred to my drawing multiple pensions from the Malacca and Selangor State Governments, and that I would be drawing another pension when I am no more Assemblymen for Penang. I congratulate Anwar Ibrahim on his decisive 194-vote majority victory over Syed Hamid Albar as UMNO Youth Leader. I regret however that Anwar Ibrahim had to make a rather extremist speech before the UMNO Youth elections, presenting the image that he is more a Malay political leader than a Malaysian political leader. DAP summons a high-level meeting of DAP States Chairman, Secretaries and DAP Co-operative scandal committee in Penang on Saturday, Sept. 20, to discuss plan of action to help the 540,000 depositors and members of 24 co-operatives in the $1.6 billion scandal.

I have decided to summon a top-level meeting of DAP States Chairman, Secretaries and the DAP Co-operative Scandal Committee in Penang on Saturday, Sept.20 at 6 pm to discuss a plan of nation to help the 540,000 depositors and members in the $1.6 billion scandal involving 24 co-operatives. In the co-operative finance scandal, 540,000 depositors and members face the prospect of losing the bulk of their $1.6 billion deposits, because of the fraud, breach of trust, abuse of power and irresponsibility of certain directors and officers of co-operatives.
